From Competition Stage to Regional Standout: Wellx’s Rise Continues

Wellx, the Dubai-based health and wellness InsurTech platform and winner of the 2022 MENA InsurTech Startup Competition, has continued to build strong momentum across the region. Over the past two years, the company has advanced its technology, expanded its partnerships, and drawn significant attention from investors and industry observers.

In 2023, Wellx closed a US $2 million seed funding round, led by the Dubai Future District Fund (DFDF) with participation from DASH Ventures, Sanabil/500 MENA, Plus VC, Aditum Investments, Loyal VC, and Plug & Play. The round marked a key step in strengthening its position as a wellness-focused digital insurer in the GCC.

The company has also expanded through strategic collaborations that integrate wearable technology and behavioural science into insurance offerings. Its partnership with WHOOP enables hyper-personalised, reward-driven wellness insurance programmes in the UAE, reflecting a growing shift toward proactive, data-led health engagement. Coverage from FintechNews Middle East and other regional publications highlights Wellx’s role in reshaping traditional insurance models by embedding rewards, gamification, and AI-driven insights into the customer experience.

Wellx’s progress has also been recognised at the national level. The company was named among the UAE Future 100 Companies for the second consecutive year at Investopia 2025, an initiative celebrating high-potential companies contributing to the country’s future economy. The recognition was presented by H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq, H.E. Ohood Khalfan Al Roumi, and H.E. Alia Abdulla AlMazrouei.

Most recently, Wellx was selected for Cohort 2 of Endeavor’s Unicorn Builder Program, delivered in partnership with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. Following a highly competitive selection process, Wellx joins nine other fast-growing companies on a five-month programme designed to support founders scaling globally from the UAE.

Wellx’s trajectory reflects the increasing maturity of the region’s digital insurance landscape and the growing influence of wellness-centric, technology-driven models across the GCC.
